Sheraton vs Best Western on Twitter

Hotels on Twitter

By: Tissha Lela

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts

Sheraton tweets a few days apart, once or twice a day and post content about promotions with their SPG membership and their different hotels around the world. They do not use the 50/50 rule on Twitter because they only post about themselves, however, there are other content but it speaks about pairing foods with drinks and has nothing to do with the hotel industry itself. They speak about the different events they hold with hashtags relevant to those events and use other hashtags such as #spglife, #sheratonclub, #sheratonpresents, and #sheratongrand. Their most successful tweet is a sweepstakes they had called Delight Delays Sweeps. It was successful because it gave everyone a chance to enter and win a trip to turn your delays into delights, also, it is easy to enter and all you have to do is tweet to them about what your delay may be even outside of traveling.

Best Western tweets about twice a day and post content about contests and joining their rewards program to gain a lot of benefits and automatic chances to win by just being their customer. They do use the 50/50 rule because they tweet about themselves and also about destinations and motivational advice in which are about traveling and relates to the hotel industry. They speak about ways to tweet to them and win chances to be featured on their page, they use hashtags such as #BestWestern, #BWsmiles, #travel, and #traveltips. Their most successful tweet is not as successful as it should be but it is still their highest likes and retweets compared to their other posts, it is a guide for summer and traveling. It was successful because they give you a chance to save when you plan your trip with them if you click the link that they have tweeted.

Sheraton vs Best Western on Facebook

Hotels on Facebook

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts

Sheraton posts once weekly and has content in which speaks about the types of events that they hold within their hotels, their different locations, promotions, and also what they do for those whom are traveling. They do not use the 50/50 rule because they only have content about themselves and not the hotel industry. They often mention to redeem free rewards through social media and their membership benefits if you sign up with their SPG membership card. One of their most successful posts is a video showing how they surprise travellers with random acts of kindness and I think it was successful because it shows how dedicated they are by offering their services outside of their hotels. Another successful post is an announcement for Sheraton Grand where they uploaded pictures of the new properties around the world and I think this was successful because of the attractiveness in the pictures.

Best Western posts once or twice a day and has content about winning goods and travel tips. They use the 50/50 rule since they post about themselves and the hotel industry by including vacation and travel ideas. They have weekly contests to win their travel card and motivational advice every Monday. One of their most successful posts is called My Wherever Destination, I think this is successful because they make it about you by asking you to select a location in which you desire to go and share it with your friends for a chance to win one free night at their hotel. Another post in which they are successful with is called Travel Trivia Tuesday, I think this is successful because they post a picture every Tuesday, give a hint then ask everyone to guess where the picture was taken for a chance to win a $100 travel card.
